Chanin Named Top Ten Wineries in California

Most of these wineries were chosen because of their long history of making great wine. This is the exception. Gavin Chanin is one of the best young winemakers in California. In 2011 he made Forbes’ list of “30 under 30″ young “game changers”. He was just 25 at the time, he’s STILL under 30 today. He has been sought for collaborations with top Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards in Sonoma County, but his main base of operations is where he got his start, Santa Barbara County. He makes winemaking sound easy: he doesn’t add yeast or enzymes, doesn’t filter, picks the grapes when they’re just-ripe to keep the wines balanced. Maybe winemaking IS really easy, or maybe he’s a prodigy. He’s definitely a winemaker to start buying from now.
