Wine & Spirits ‘Year’s Best Pinots’!
91 Points- 2017 Los Alamos Vineyard Pinot Noir
This is youthful and intriguing, with notes of tanbark, pine, frond and grainy strawberry, and a amaro-like tannic bitterness. Unresolved for now-as is typical of Chanin’s wines-this needs time in the cellar- P.J.C
93 Points- 2017 Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir
This feels cool and clean, with a mild expression of nori, spiced cherry and sweet strawberry. The grip and the freshness lingers, a crunchy pinot, ready for roast salmon. – P.J.C
92 Points- 2017 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir
A wine to ponder a couple of hours as it unfurls, this interpretation of Sanford & Benedict starts out tense and a touch of backward, with scents of rose petal and wood smoke, a bit of cola and beach air on a cool day. But as days go by, it becomes ever more harmonious and integrated, a seamless weave of oak, tea-like spice and delicate fruit. It will reward patience. P.J.C
