2012 ‘Sanford and Benedict Vineyard’ Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir comes from Block T13, an old vine original block at Sanford and Benedict. It was fermented with 50% whole cluster, which gives the wine spice and aromatic lift. This wine has always been very light and has, over time, darkened up in the barrel. For one of my lightest, most elegant wines of the vintage, it is also very rich and maybe my most complex young wine to date.
Tasting Notes
The nose is filled with raspberry, strawberry, cherry and tropical flower, and framed in citrus fruit and spice. The palate is long and structured with deceiving richness on the mid-palate and great acidity.
