2012 ‘Los Alamos Vineyard’ Pinot Noir
This Pinot Noir comes from two sections of Los Alamos Vineyard, clones 777 and 115. The grapes were handpicked on September 4, and crushed into an open-top tank. The grapes started fermentation after a five day cold soak and were punched-down by hand twice daily. The wine was pressed 10 days later when it was dry. I aged this wine in French oak barrels (20% new) for 11 months and bottled it unfiltered to preserve its vibrancy.
Tasting Notes
The nose is expressive and reminiscent of cola leaf, red cherry, black tea and plums. The palate has a smooth entry with round mid-palate and the finish is long with refreshing acidity and dark fruit.
