Antonio Galloni scores our 2016 vintage!

2016 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, Pinot Noir- 94 Points

“The 2016 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard offers lovely density and richness, with quite a bit of tannic intensity that is going to need time to resolve. Blue and purplish berry fruit, lavender, mint and spice all develop in the glass, but it is the wine’s overall structure that stands out most. The 2016 is all class, but readers will have to be patient to see the wine at its very finest. “– Antonio Galloni

2016 Bien Nacido Vineyard, Pinot Noir-  93 Points

“The 2016 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard is laced with the essence of sweet red cherry, lavender, mint, rose petal and hard candy. Beautifully perfumed, silky and nuanced, the 2016 shows the more delicate, sensual side of this historic Santa Maria site. The 2016 is resonant and nicely layered, if a touch on the understated side.” – Antonio Galloni

2016 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard, Chardonnay – 93 Points

The 2016 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict Vineyard is the most expressive of these three Chardonnays today. Light tropical notes, baked apple, vanillin and yellow orchard fruit all fill out the wine’s ample frame effortlessly. Wonderfully creamy and seductive, with a gorgeous sense of translucency, the 2016 is terrific. “– Antonio Galloni

2016 Bien Nacido Vineyard, Chardonnay- 93 Points

“Chanin’s 2016 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard is bright focused and beautifully perfumed, as wines form this site tend to be. Orchard fruit, white flowers, citrus, mint and white pepper give lift and brightness. Today, the Bien Nacido is quite reserved, but it is undeniably a classy wine. The Chanin Chardonnay is sourced from Bien Nacido’s W Block. These vines were originally planted with Riesling, and Chardonnay was grafted onto existing Riesling rootstock later. There is always something uniquely aromatic about this wine, and it may have something to do with the Riesling rootstock. “– Antonio Galloni

2016 Los Alamos Vineyard, Pinot Noir- 92 Points

“The 2016 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard is delicate and lifted in the glass. Sweet dried cherry, mint tobacco, dried herbs, sage and crushed leaves add to the wine’s aromatic depth. Silky and polished, with striking nuance, the 2016 is all class. I loved it. “– Antonio Galloni

2016 Los Alamos Vineyard, Chardonnay- 92 Points

“The 2016 Chardonnay Los Alamos Vineyard is gorgeous. Polished, nuanced and super-expressive, the Los Alamos is all class. Apricot, peach, smoke, chamomile and lightly buttery notes are all finely knit in this super-expressive and inviting Chardonnay from Gavin Chanin.” – Antonio Galloni

2016 Santa Barbara County, Pinot Noir- 90 Points

The 2016 Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara County) is an addition to Gavin Chanin’s range. Sweet red cherry and floral notes are nicely pushed forward in this tasty, appellation-level Pinot. Drink it over the next few years.” – Antonio Galloni
